Newport High School Class of 2026 graduate Haley Scott continues to make an impact through her leadership, service, and academic achievements. This fall, Haley will begin the next chapter of her educational journey at Thomas More University.
Haley has been selected to attend the National Council for Community and Education Partnerships (NCCEP) GEAR UP Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) in Washington, D.C., this July. She is one of only three students selected from GEAR UP schools across Kentucky to participate in this prestigious national event.
The Youth Leadership Summit brings together 150 students from GEAR UP programs across the nation for a high-quality, interactive leadership experience focused on life skills, leadership development, and learning-to-learn strategies. Participants engage in workshops, collaborative activities, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities designed to prepare them for success in college, careers, and their communities.
In addition to this national honor, Haley has been selected for the inaugural GEAR UP Kentucky Student Ambassador Council Postsecondary Cohort. As a member of this distinguished group, she will help represent GEAR UP students across the Commonwealth, advocate for college and career readiness, and contribute to initiatives that support future student success.
Newport High School and Newport Independent Schools are proud of Haley’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make as she represents both Kentucky and the Wildcat community at the state and national levels.
